Your VPS account is designed with the goal to emulate the behavior of a dedicated server in a shared virtual environment. Because of this, your account will operate and function as a dedicated server does. One of the key limitations of your account is that, because of the shared environment, the VPS account root user does not have the ability to modify kernel or hardware-related configurations.
It is significant to note, however, that any of the system files not specifically changed by the VPS account administrator will continue to be maintained and updated by our staff. While many of the utilities are extended to your VPS account, the multi-user environment makes application management slightly different.
Although a Virtual Private Server allows for increased security and control within an isolated environment, it is still considered “shared” Web hosting as you are sharing CPU and memory resources with other users on the same machine.
With a Managed Dedicated Server you can still utilize the Virtual Private Server technology, but within your own physical server. This way you know that 100% of the server’s resources are being utilized by you, and no one else. It is COMPLETELY independent and COMPLETELY dedicated.
